My linocut shows 2 blue mussel. The blue mussel (Mytilus edulis), or common mussel, is a medium-sized edible marine bivalve mollusc in the family Mytilidae. They are aptly called common mussels and are found on temperate beaches worldwide. Perfect for your favourite malachologist, beach comber, gourmand or shell collector, each 8” x 8” print is hand printed on Japanese paper.

Radiolarians (or radiolaria) are a type of tiny creature -amoeboid protozoa which produce mineral skeletons.

They occur as zooplankton throughout the oceans and their tiny skeletal remains can be used as diagnostic fossils to date submarine sediments.

Happy birthday to #biochemist Marie Maynard Daly (1921-2003), 1st Black woman to earn a PhD in #chemistry in the US! She made important research contributions to our understanding of the biochemisty of the cell nucleus & cardiovascular issues & the chemistry of histones & protein synthesis.
