Today, my Shiftphone 8.1 finally arrived! It will replace my aging OnePlus 7T from 2019 which is already on the second battery (thanks to @iFixit for the excellent support, spare parts and tools), running @LineageOS .
I'm still undecided if I stick to the preinstalled ShiftOS from @shiftphones or switch to an alternative ROM. It seems like LineageOS isn't fully supported yet...

Il Pixel 8A usato è arrivato; forse il venditore è stato onesto, finora tutto bene.
In attesa di modding più spinto (che per me significa GrapheneOS anche qui, o Lineage), attuo un approccio ibrido: rom stock, no login, il 90% delle app disattivate (compreso il Play Store, ma non i Play Services), 4 app da Aurora e il resto da F-Droid.
Migrazione rapida, anche grazie alle app open source prive di vendor lock-in.

L'articolo denuncia il monopolio della sicurezza che Google esercita su Android attraverso il sistema di controllo proprietario Play Integrity.
Se un telefono non utilizza i servizi di Google, come ad esempio i sistemi alternativi /e/OS, LineageOS o GrapheneOS
non viene considerato affidabile e quindi vengono bloccate alcune app sensibili ( banche, servizi governativi ecc).
Un consorzio formato da quattro attori europei (Volla Systeme, Murena, Iodé e Apostrophy) ha lanciato il progetto #opensource #UnifiedAttestation per rompere questo monopolio.
Naturalmente gli ostacoli politici ed economici che deve affrontare questo progetto per rompere il monopolio di Google non mancano.

I was into modding my tablet and phone with CyanogenMod 10 years ago as a mere 14 year old, lol. CWM was losing popularity and TWRP was becoming popular. Magisk was not yet a thing back then
It was all fun until the CMod team chose the other path on that "fork in the road." I wonder where the cyanogen people are now...
