I know @elementary isn't making revenue using theirs, but maybe we need to get more serious about that.

Or maybe it's not an app store, but some standardized plugin to ask some money from your users using an 'okayish' payment provider.

I won't buy a Librem 5 as well. But my idealistic me is totally open minded to be convinced to use and develop for the #LinMob approach.
What it probably would need first (besides hardware): An app store having any opportunity to monetize developer's efforts. It's not that I need to make some money immediately, but I would have higher trust into sustainability and competition strength of a #FLOSS app approach if it had any economic incentive.
Best compromise seems to be the Volla and Morena approach: Distribute Android tech and try to ungoogle it in a way youβ€˜ll have a working mobile in the end. Thereβ€˜s a really good and huge FOSS app community shipping via @fdroidorg, but seems their life will get hard starting with September.

To sum it up: If you want a freedom phone youβ€˜ll either get a kind-of degoogled Android phone or low-end years old hardware for Linux mainline or Ubuntu Touch or Sailfish OS (or Postmarket OS) phones that are based on Android tech and drivers as well.
So: If you want current hardware use Android (and be caught by Google in September) or use a feature phone.

Even rs purists who just want Signal or Element messenger and OTP, 2FA, and secure keysharing might want a way for getting mobile multimedia access if a browser will never be an option in #XousOS. A Rust radio and podcast app in the making? Carrying around a pod type device doesn't offer the timeliness or variety.

Does Intel Atom provide support for MMU (Memory Management Unit) ... If it does then how to access it?

I'm super-excited that the #LinuxOnMobile stand will be returning to #FOSDEM in 2026!

Last year we had an amazing experience meeting fellow enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

This year we plan to have even more phones, devices and distros for you to play with.

We're not the only FOSS/mobile stand and with any luck we'll be close together like last year.

Using experience from the last congress, a lot of small groups (more precisely their members) will attend and have no organization and will fail to attract attention.

Therefore I suggest we link up as many groups as we can and make large assemblies.

So far I would love to somehow merge:
#fsfe #linmob #postmarketos #kodi #peertube

This would pump the size of the stand to maybe 20+ people with huge amounts of interesting stuff and they are easily linked by their freedom of information goal.

I've been wanting to try out postmarketOS on my old phone (a OnePlus 6T) for a while now, but kept putting it off because I expected it would require a lot of time and fiddling. It didn't! Breakfast experiment was to flash PMOS, using the UBports installer. This was very quick and easy, although turned out not to be the best way to do it. (1/n)
