Lily Cheng in #Willowdale is again advocating against new housing next to a subway station

According to her, adding 2000 new residents to the neighborhood would be a risk to lose the Costco (???). As if adding new people to the neighborhood would make Costco leave.

Yes some "essential local retail shops" (aka Starbucks) would leave... But there's no shortage in that area, it's beyond ridiculous.

On the positive side we don’t have a lot of moments to meet progressive voices and local orgs within our own North York neighborhood. So those type of gathering are a good way to meet local folks that are involved, without having to join a group downtown

And seeing that the room was packed, it does remind the councillor we aren’t just the car centric citizens she read on her Facebook and that forgetting about us would mean a lot of engaged citizens against her

At the #Willowdale Climate Action roundtable organized by my local Toronto city councillor Lily Cheng

I’m torned on those events. I wonder how much of it is just to give good conscience to the councillor.

While she keeps voting against more dense neighborhoods and in favor of pro-parking policies

As much as Quebec goes too far with laïcité, especially around dictating what you can wear and prayers in public space.

The other side with Ontario can also be absolutely bonkers.

My city councillor spreading her Christian faith in her newsletter and organizing a praying group within city hall, it’s absolutely not the place

#Willowdale tell your councillor Lily Cheng what you think of small retail stores in your neighborhood

Willowdale Community Survey: Neighbourhood Retail and Services

The City of Toronto is reviewing how small-scale retail and services—like cafés, corner shops, and community spaces—can better serve residents in neighbourhoods. This work is part of the Expanding Housing Options in Neighbourhoods (EHON) initiative. You can review the report from staff to Planning and Housing Committee on Nov 30th, by clicking here. Your feedback will help Councillor Cheng’s office understand what types of neighbourhood retail and services matter most to Willowdale residents and where they should be located. This short survey will take about 5 minutes to complete.

Lily Cheng, NIMBY councillor of #Willowdale in Toronto went to South Korea.

What did she learn? She learned about sleek parking infrastructure. In South Korea! Speak about missing the forest for the trees

Also Toronto transit isn't randomly underdevelopped, it's something she can actually influence as a councillor. She's saying that as if it just happened and there's nothing we can do beside keeping parking in place.

Lily Cheng only has negative to say about increased density in Willowdale as part of the North York at the Center Secondary Plan. We are talking of a neighborhood at the intersection of the Yonge and Sheppard subway line, among the best transit in the city.

If you think she is wrong, the city is running a survey at this URL

Really not a fan of the gendered language in our councillor newsletter.

Apparently Dads are not signing up their kids for activities in the city, only Moms are doing it. And if your family doesn't have a mom, well too bad.

I know Lily Cheng is proud to be a mom, but this kind of discourse just perpetuate the stereotypes that taking care of kids must be done by women.

Toronto’s modular home projects were supposed to be a quick way to ease its housing crisis. So why is Willowdale’s rotting in a warehouse?

Toronto’s modular home projects were supposed to be a quick way to ease its housing crisis. So why is Willowdale’s rotting in a warehouse?

A supportive housing development on Cummer Avenue remains unbuilt after more than three years, while a similar project in East York has been providing much-needed homes.

@rzaichkowski Lily Cheng is the one who’s been pushing for more consultation as she claims she was never informed of the previous ones. She’s strongly against the project. We can likely blame her for those extra steps.

However it’s true that the Doris extension has been delayed so many times, even as a car project she supports, she doesn’t understand why it’s taken so long.
