Where Are They Now? - Lightspeed Magazine

I didn’t die when I fell into the candy river, you know. That mean girl didn’t die when she got flushed down the fake novelty toilet. Neither did the other one, the one who ate so much jelly that they rolled her away to pump her stomach. I think she set the record for the highest ever blood glucose level, but she’s alive. We write sometimes.

When the Faerie King Toured the Human Realm - Lightspeed Magazine

When the Faerie King takes his tour of the human realm, he becomes---of course---a viral hit. The first posts and videos stream out from Shanghai, just after the New Year. He’s seen waiting patiently in line at a popular dumpling stall.

Lotus Dew for the Emperor’s Tea - Lightspeed Magazine

The First Emperor was the first and last of true immortals on earth, and no winter touched his realm. No autumn wind blew. His orchards bloomed and fruited and bloomed again. In his court, death and old age were shut out. And every day, he drank a cup of tea brewed in the dew of lotus flowers, which had been collected that morning from the lotuses that grew in a heaven-touched lake at the easternmost point of his palace grounds.

THIS is a damn good story of time travel and war and people's choices - go read it!

Tobias Buckell.
Just wow.

Read it at #lightspeedmagazine with the context that its ©️ date is 2019. 😳

It originally appeared in A People’s Future of the United States.

A lot of his work is #fantasy, but not all. Time to hit the library. #lightspeed #scifi

Gosh darn it, this is good. "The Vampire of Kovácspéter" by P H Lee in #LightspeedMagazine is a wonderful blend of folktale and modern short story, with a creeping eerie uneasiness that will stay will you long afterward. I highly recommend it! 🦇 #Horror #SpeculativeFiction

The Vampire of Kovácspéter - Lightspeed Magazine

The village of Kovácspéter was plagued by a vampire, which was increasingly embarrassing. The year was 1873 and Hungary was on the march to modernity. They had their own prime minister, their own constitution, and their own economic development plan. Rails were being laid and industry was being developed. The future was industrial, prosperous and, most importantly, happening right now.
