My first post on a media platform where I want to spend sometime discussing about novels I love to read and writings. To be honest what I read is already limited to webnovels and most of the time it's in niche genre. (CN, KR & JP Webnovels). So what's better than going with an question that arises due to an idea from a novel. Take it lightly as any discussion is invited.
“Although it sounds foolish to seek rationality in supernatural events, in fact, all supernatural events have their most basic rules. Even a fierce ghost has its limits; it may be omnipotent, but only within a certain rule.” ~ Frightening Joke: Above the Mist (Ch 248)
Now, as in the mentioned quote, the author has established the ideas that RULES are universal and whether it's an ordinary person or a Supernatural Entity, both of them are bound by some rules.
Classic case is from Ringo (Ring) Movie. The Curse must be spread through the videos tape and the death of character occurs after a certain period from that point.
Few Rules we're establishing some rules before moving onto the main question:
> Basic & First Rule: A Ghost or Supernatural Entities are creatures that have been formed either due to DESIRE, ATTACHMENT or MALEVOLENCE.
> Second Rule: It is certain that most are bound by the Space or Time, meaning, they can only exists in that area or in between that certain period.
> Final Rule: Due to the nature of their birth they're bound to do certain things. Like an Entity born due to sheer hatred will despise any living being so that's their Trait.
The Idea & Question:
Let's suppose an Spectre has been created due to it's inherent desire to reach his home. He died commuting back from work to home in a shared cab. A truck hit the cab when passing through the tunnel. The reasons for his death are unknown to him, though he understands he's a ghost.
He doesn't carry any hatred towards the living being. Now, the Ghost has the desire to return back to home but due to his death in that specific area he's bound to that tunnel. Now, he haunts that place trying to hitchhick. He can talk to people. He's willing to and shared good talks with few passerb. He has tried hitchhiking many times and whenever he's about to cross the tunnel, he disappears and reappear inside the tunnel (back to start). Even if he tries to cross the tunnel walking it doesn't works. Now, he has to return no matter what.
The Hauntings of Tunnel is a now a story most passerby knows and due to some curious fellas, the ghosts inherent nature is also revealed as genuinely troubled homeless ghost.
SO, How can his problem of unable to reach home be solved without breaking the rule established ? Can he possess the Human ? Can he invite someone from his family here by asking drivers to contact them. Will that count as him reaching home ?
