#BirdCallOut Black Vulture! Flying above the highway with distinctive white patches on the ends of its wings! This is a new bird for us. So nice that the Turkey Vultures here have some other vulture company.
Orchard oriole! In the trees around a swampy lake!
It's a new bird for me, too!
Rose-breasted Grosbeak! At the nature center bird feeder!
This is a new bird for my wife and me, and until we checked in our book when we got back to the house, we were coming up with our own names for it. My favorite was the Fuscia-bibbed Grosbeak.
New bird alert! New bird alert!
My wife and I saw our first Canyon Towhee today! We went on a pleasant hike through cactus country, but is that where the bird was? No, it was at the nearby restaurant with the okay food but great window-side birding. Pickings were slim today other than the Canyon Towhee, but just before we left I did finally see a Pyrrhuloxia that my wire reported I'd missed at the start of the meal when I was off washing my hands.
