Knowing the City is absurdly populated is one thing, but finally getting a glimpse into it is another. Hints of the population density are everywhere Angela can see crowds or buildings through the Invitations.
It puts the rampage of the Pianist and, later, of the Crying Children into perspective, too. How could you avoid any danger from hitting so many people when they are forced to live so close to each other? It's just impossible.

Gebura could understand Roland. She had gained enough clarity of mind to not lie to herself anymore. Not about her weaknesses.
The pain of failing to protect someone important could turn into the most burning, blinding hatred. She had felt it. She'd lost herself to it until the Manager had broken her out of it.
So she knew why Roland was making the whole Library shake, but she would show him the real meaning of the Courage to Protect.

She had never thought she would, one day, leave the City. Here she is, though, looking at it from the outside, back in the Outskirts where everything started. (It's one last loop. The irony.)
As she stares at the City from the top of the Library, she wonders if that place she dreamed of belonging in had always looked so busy yet so small. Like an ant colony, never stopping, crowded with life, but also unaware of how huge the world is.

"Seriously, how do these work?" Roland muttered, poking at an Assistant Librarian wearing a Sweeper page and looking supremely uncomfortable.
"Do you really need to experiment on your colleagues?" Angela asked, unimpressed.
"Look, it's the first time I got so close to Sweepers, and now we can basically take our time trying to see what's the deal with that creepy tank, and the tubes... wait, are the weapons hooked to that?"
"Read the Books."
Angela raised a perplexed brow when Roland fled Natural Sciences, an expression of slight but persistent horror on his face. She walked in; Tiphereth was, of course, looking very smug.
"Managed to break him?" Angela asked.
"Well, he was back on his bullshit of calling me a kid. So I retaliated."
"Now I'm curious. What was so effective?"
"I called him Uncle. Apparently that made him feel very old, so I added he'd hit it off with Hokma..."

Hearing Roland correct her wrong assumptions over and over again is frustrating, Angela won't sugarcoat it. She's annoyed at how little she knows, and doesn't like the leverage knowledge gives Roland.
But as much as she refuses to blatantly encourage him, she enjoys learning about the City and its inhabitants. It fascinates her, how many different ways of life coexist in the same streets. (It makes her want to see it with her own eyes.)

I just love the sound of piano.
Is it too much to ask, to be able to do what I love? I gave my life to music, patiently, without making waves. I saw others rise, and I waited for my turn, still playing, always playing. The notes on the scores entered my eyes and exited my fingers, exact, precise.
I never stopped playing. And yet, after so many years, today is my grand debut. The City will hear me.
