Switch to a free and #opensource (#FOSS) #Linux phone of a company that put freedom to the user first.

Not as smooth as current Android (Google) or Apple phones, but full freedom to the user. I can accept some inconvenience to gain this control.

@sashin @graves501 @thejessiekirk All of the degoogled Android projects are riding on Google funded development and cannot survive without it. The only real alternative is #LinuxMobile. Now we have a decent-spec usable device for non-technical users, the #FLX1s from @furilabs at a pretty good price (currently $499).

For tech-savvy users, true Linux devices like the #LibertyPhone or #Librem5 with #PureOS, #Mobian or #postmarketOS (or flashed on a supported Android phone) can also work as a daily driver and replace Android for nearly all important stuff.

The #PureOS #Crimson development report for December 2025 has been published.

@henry Btw, the #FLX1s from @furilabs comes with 8GB RAM and a 5-year old processor. It's running #phosh, not Gnome but pretty similar and it's a fork of it.

Even the #LibertyPhone from @purism comes with 4GB RAM and a processor that's technically less than 9 years old since release. It runs #postmarketOS with phosh, gnome or kde plasma pretty well. I'm daily driving a #Librem5 with pmOS phosh and as far as I can see, it's the best supported pmOS device.

@mukto_manob @rysiek As someone who's daily driving #postmarketOS (stable phosh) on a #Librem5, I think that mobile Linux is sufficiently advanced for non-developers to use, especially if they are already used to #DesktopLinux.

#FuriLabs devices even come with Android app support enabled out of the box and have higher specs, so I'd expect them to be more normie-friendly.

@privacyguides I think #LinuxMobile is the only real path forward for freedom.

Instead of hoping in #Google, it would be better in the long run if concerned users rallied behind #Linux options (mainline or #Halium-based), and there are quite a few now, existing and upcoming.

@Sxan Based on a recent forum post by @jc, their #LibertyPhone production run should also be complete in December. Actually screen repacement cost is how I came to L5. A previous Pixel 6 Pro device's screen replacement cost was so high that it made more sense to pay $20-50 more and buy a brand new 6A. Now I'm seeing that Librem 5 screen cost 1/8th of the product price and roughly 1/5th of the Pixel 6 Pro screen replacement cost!
