Yesterday I couldn't fall asleep.
Tried the usual things. Put the phone down. Pick it back up. Scroll a bit. Repeat. My brain clearly had a couple background processes running.
Even the #fediverse didn't calm it down.
Eventually I opened #Libby to browse my local library. I noticed it now has AI search and recommendations (didn’t try it, not the point of this story).
What caught my attention instead: magazines.
I opened one, I think it was #NatGeo, and started reading an article about why #Vikings disappeared from Greenland, and why it’s even called Greenland in the first place.
Ten minutes later I was asleep.
It reminded me how much I like small, contained stories. A beginning, an end, a few interesting facts. No infinite scroll.
Books sometimes feel like a HUGE commitment these days unless they’re audiobooks. But a random magazine article? Perfect patch for an overactive brain.
PocketBook-Update bringt Anbindung an Bibliotheken
Ich habe nun schon seit knapp einem Jahr mein PocketBook. Gefehlt hat mir die Anbindung an meine Bibliothek (Stichwort Onleihe). Jetzt ist sie da.

Libby, what used to be OverDrive, changed how deep searching works so you can only search across catalogs if your search results are 100 titles or fewer. I don’t know if they utterly hate those of us that have non resident library cards, or if it’s too difficult to manage a global catalogue, but this is infuriating. Now I have to look up multiple libraries one at a time and it’s utterly ridiculous.
Deep searching is not available when the unfiltered search has 100 results or more.
Oh fuck you Libby! Maybe I want to spend my afternoon browsing your global catalog. I often browse by tags, which has 200 results or so after filtering but now I feel like I can’t even utilize my nonresident library cards effectively without having to waste my time and perform the same search across multiple libraries one search after the other, one search at a time. It’s utterly ridiculous. #Libraries
Is the "Read with Kindle" option in Libby still only available in the US? Why??
Does anyone have any hacks for people outside the US to get #Libby titles onto a Kindle?
(I have a Kobo as well, but the battery doesn't keep a charge, and also, my #Kindle Scribe is awesome for annotating!)
