If it weren't for you fellow Letterboxd-ers I wouldn't have watched this. You gave me the courage. Not because I didn't think it would be great but because every time I watch a movie with the word "portrait" in the title a member of my family gets killed... 1986- Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer- After seeing this my Uncle Jeff Falls out of a plane and lands on a Rhino's horn 1996- The Portrait of a Lady- my Aunt Vanessa Falls out of Plane and lands on another plane. She's fine until that plane flies into a mountain. Darn

A ★★½ review of Masters of the Universe (2026)

"Fisto, He fists people"-- I think that line of dialogue was originally attributed to Paddy Chayefsy or Elaine May. I can't quite remember who. More GI Joe: Rise of Cobra than Barbie, but you were expecting that. Tries to be camp and super serious at the same time and never quite figures out which lane to pick. The movie suffers for it and that two and a quarter hour runtime isn't helping things either. Jared Leto is such a bitchy queen as Skeletor. He's voice acting in another movie entirely ("Big...shiny sword") and we're here for it. Everything is serviceable

These are the only four I watched and actually paid attention to this week!
The Pied Piper - creepy excellence 3.5 stars
Metropolis - awesome as always 5 stars
The Happening - Meh 2 stars. I love John Leguizamo! It had potential with good cast and totally flopped.
Best In Show - not sure how I've been around and completely missed this really excellent comedy. Bravo
