A career .190 hitter in three minor league seasons, Ross went 6-for-13 with three doubles, a home run, and six RBI for the Pirates this spring. During his professional career, Ross has primarily caught, but can also most of the infield positions. He does have some pop as evidenced by 23 home runs with High-A Greensboro in 2024. However, plate discipline will need to improve if he is to get a shot in the majors. In his career, Ross has struck out 322 times in 694 at bats. He will likely open the year in Triple-A Indianapolis.
Davis posted a 6.52 in 9.2 innings this spring, but did post an impressive 11:1 K:BB ratio. The righthander has pitched parts of four seasons in the majors, and has a 9.53 ERA in 62.1 career innings. He did pitch well in the minors last season, combining for a 3.88 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 48.2 innings with Triple-A teams in the Twins and Dodgers organizations. The soon-to-be 29-year-old Davis will head to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the season.
In four appearances this spring, Darrell-Hicks allowed three runs in four innings. The righthander made his major league debut last season, combining for 9.2 innings with the Angels and Pirates. He allowed eight runs on 10 hits with an 8:4 K:BB ratio. Darrell-Hicks has a 4.60 ERA in four minor league seasons, striking out 245 batters in 219 innings. He'll likely be ticketed for Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the year.
The 22nd overall pick of the 2015 MLB Draft, Burrows has a little big league experience but has not appeared at the highest level since 2021 with the Twins. Things have not gone well in the majors as he has allowed 21 earned runs on 24 hits and an 11:11 BB:K ratio in 17.2 career innings. He is, however, coming off of a solid season in the minors in 2025, pitching to a 2.94 ERA in 49 innings across four different levels. Burrows, who has pitched 781.2 career innings in the minors, will likely open the campaign in Triple-A Indianapolis.
