I've been thinking a lot about design lately -- next spring I'm teaching a course in the ethics of software design -- and I realized that even something like an iPad cover / stand can be right-handed, in a way.

When the iPad is propped up using the cover in the photo, the home button has to be on the right. But I'm left-handed, so whenever I want to use the home button for the Touch ID, I have to reach across the tablet. It's not hard, but it's slightly awkward.

Old vs new. I’ve bought my first fountain pen in probably over twenty years. I’ve always loved writing with them but I transitioned to writing more digitally in recent times. Now I want to write more by hand again and for this reason I bought a new fountain pen. It’s almost the same as the one I got when I went to school but this time I got it with a left handed nib and an engraving of my chosen name (and legal name since one and a half years) and a very pretty colour called „black purple“. I also got a converter with it to have a better selection of inks.

After years of buying expensive guitars (as well as inexpensive ones), this is it. The bridge is a top loader (rather than strings through body) and it has a single humbucker pickup and one volume control. #guitar #lefty #lefthanded #singlehumbucker #onlyonepickup

One for my lefty friends I considered as I was brushing my teeth with my non dominant right hand to mix things up...

Do you ever use your right hand for practice, fun, normally use left dominant switch it up, etc.

I am ready to expand my bass playing. I will be keeping my Artist PB2 LH. It keeps in tune really well during practice and I have made a number of adjustments (and soldering) to keep it working.

I spent an hour with this left-handed PJ beauty.

I have been waiting all year to it to come in. I spent an hour exploring the tones and trying different styles. 5 string does means more muting work. The B string makes some serious bass notes I have never made before. When I get back from OS, I will try it with my own amp for a proper comparison. The setup out-of-the-box was playable. I did point out the intonation needs work, and they will be fixing that.

I have one large fault with my Artist bass. Slapping is next to impossible. I thought it was me. The Schecter slaps hard :D

Science finally explains my small brain and frequent knuckle-walking!

(Actually, this summary only explains asymmetrical hand usage, not a specific preference for right-handedness.) #Lefthanded #Southpaw https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/05/260517211429.htm

Scientists think they’ve cracked the mystery of human right-handedness

A new study suggests humans became overwhelmingly right-handed because of two major evolutionary shifts: walking on two legs and developing much larger brains. Researchers found that as human ancestors evolved, their right-hand preference steadily intensified — transforming a mild tendency into one of humanity’s most distinctive traits.

The video shows the #left hand playing the keys, is that a #lefthanded player?

Bagpipes are #ambidextrous right?

As a lefty (as in, left-handed), I have tried numerous ways, since I've learned to write, to avoid the dreaded smudges.
Who amongst us hasn't experienced the side palm dirty with ink and the writing on the page smudged beyond recognition?
My uncle used to write from the top of the page, wrist bent at an uncomfortable angle, nearly writing upsidedown.
My own solution? Hold my hand and pen 'normally', but put my paper sideways, my arm more or less parallel with my torso (depending if I'm writing with table support or not). No smudges of any kind and no (additional) wrist pain. It's garnered weird looks, but if it works.... /

How do you, fellow lefties, avoid the smudges?
