As @pluralistic says, hope isn't optimism, it's not the belief that things will be better just like that.

Hope is a verb.

Hope is what makes millions of people go vote, the biggest number in 40y, to kick the ass of LePen / Bardella extrem right out of French government and in third position in the Assembly when they where given victorious, even getting absolute majority.

Hope is what made a lot of candidates step down to give more chance to the other one against RN.

Hope is what made 3M people, 10% of the électoral base, do a power of attorney b/c they couldn't vote in person.

And hope move mountains.

OK, extrem right is there and powerful. But not governing, and France held. The citizen hoped.

And now, we need to hope for the three coming years.
