El presidente surcoreano bromeó sobre una posible «puerta trasera» en los dispositivos, a lo que Xi Jinping respondió con un ingenioso troleo. El gesto además tuvo un mensaje oculto sobre la colaboración tecnológica chino-coreana.

En un encuentro protocolario en el marco de la reunión anual del Foro de Cooperación Económica Asia-Pacífico (APEC), que marcó la primera reunión entre los líderes de China y Corea del Sur en 11 años, el presidente chino, Xi Jinping, entregó a su homólogo surcoreano, Lee Jae-myung, dos modelos de smartphones Xiaomi de alta gama.

El momento se tornó viral después de que Lee Jae-myung hiciera una broma directa sobre la fama de los móviles chinos en cuestiones de ciberseguridad. Tras examinar la caja, el presidente surcoreano preguntó de forma jocosa: «¿Cómo es la seguridad de las telecomunicaciones?», haciendo alusión a la preocupación constante sobre la posible inclusión de «puertas traseras» (backdoors), métodos ocultos que permitirían a terceros acceder a la información privada de los dispositivos sin limitaciones.

Lejos de ofenderse, Xi Jinping siguió el hilo de la broma con una respuesta que demostró la distensión en las relaciones bilaterales: «Ahora puedes comprobar si tiene una puerta trasera o no». Este cómodo intercambio sobre un tema que antes no era motivo de risa refleja una notable mejora en los lazos entre ambos países.

Finalmente, el regalo de los Xiaomi lleva consigo un simbolismo tecnológico. Si bien Samsung, una empresa surcoreana, es una de las grandes rivales de Xiaomi, los dispositivos regalados (como el Xiaomi 17 mencionado en el artículo) utilizan una pantalla fabricada precisamente por Samsung. Este detalle transformó el gesto en un mensaje de apreciación por la colaboración empresarial entre China y Corea del Sur, sin la cual, el móvil no habría alcanzado su nivel de calidad.

De forma personal si me permiten una opinión, creo que el espionaje es moneda corriente desde todo punto de vista y desde el uso de cualquier tecnología. La pregunta sería, ¿hasta qué punto nos están vigilando? solo los Gobiernos del mundo? o también las empresas para tratar de vendernos más, o bien ofrecernos productos servicios, etc.

La privacidad es una batalla perdida hace mucho mucho tiempo, el que no crea en ello lamento decirles que está equivocado. Por supuesto dejo abierto el hilo para los comentarios.
