Gli arresti giungono dopo che Dubai ha subito il peso maggiore degli attacchi iraniani contro i paesi vicini del Golfo. Il Servizio di Sicurezza dello Stato ha aggiunto che il gruppo aveva raccolto fondi e li aveva trasferiti a "entità straniere sospette", e che aveva "adottato ideologie e idee terroristiche estremiste". Sono inoltre accusati di aver condotto operazioni segrete di "reclutamento e indottrinamento" e di aver tenuto incontri, sia all'interno che all'esterno del paese, con "elementi terroristici e organizzazioni sospette". "Il loro obiettivo era diffondere idee fuorvianti tra i giovani emiratini e reclutarli per servire ideologie straniere, incitare contro la politica estera e le procedure interne del Paese e tentare di dipingere il Paese sotto una luce negativa", si legge nella dichiarazione.
La raffica di attacchi iraniani ha scosso un Paese a lungo considerato un rifugio sicuro, prendendo di mira non solo obiettivi statunitensi, ma anche infrastrutture civili, tra cui aeroporti, infrastrutture energetiche e centri turistici, a Dubai e in altre città. All'inizio di questo mese, gli Emirati Arabi Uniti hanno chiesto che l'Iran risarcisca i danni causati degli attacchi nel Golfo. A marzo, sempre a Dubai, sono stati catturati cinque affiliafi di una "rete terroristica" legata all'Iran e al gruppo militante libanese Hezbollah.

The United Arab Emirates announced the dismantling of a “terrorist cell” linked to Iran. The arrests come after Dubai bore the brunt of Iranian attacks against neighboring Gulf countries. The 27 men arrested are accused of planning “terrorist acts and systematic sabotage.” In a statement posted on social media, the State Security Service announced the operation against some members of a cell linked to Velayat-e Faqih (“Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist”), a doctrine underpinning the 1979 Islamic Revolution and allegiance to the Supreme Leader. The names and wanted photos of the 27 alleged members of the unit were published online, and authorities said they “established and managed a secret organization, operating from the United Arab Emirates, swearing allegiance to foreign entities and damaging national unity and social peace.”

The State Security Service added that the group had raised funds and transferred them to “suspect foreign entities,” and that it had “embraced extremist terrorist ideologies and ideas.” They are also accused of conducting secret operations of “recruitment and indoctrination” and of holding meetings, both inside and outside the country, with “terrorist elements and suspect organizations.” “Their aim was to spread misleading ideas among young Emiratis and recruit them to serve foreign ideologies, incite against the country’s foreign policy and internal procedures, and attempt to portray the country in a negative light,” the statement read.

The barrage of Iranian attacks has shaken a country long considered a safe haven, targeting not only U.S. targets, but also civilian infrastructure, including airports, energy infrastructure, and tourist centers, in Dubai and other cities. At the beginning of this month, the United Arab Emirates demanded that Iran compensate for the damages caused by the attacks in the Gulf. In March, also in Dubai, five affiliates of a “terrorist network” linked to Iran and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah were arrested.

Dopo la morte di un casco blu francese nel sud del Libano, il presidente Emmanuel Macron indica apertamente una responsabilità: "Tutto lascia pensare" che dietro l'attacco ci sia Hezbollah. Un'accusa netta, ribadita anche nei colloqui con il presidente libanese Joseph Aoun e il premier Nawaf Salam, ai quali è stata chiesta un'indagine rapida. Ma all'Eliseo, più che attendere verifiche, si ragiona già su un quadro ritenuto sufficientemente chiaro.

Secondo la lettura francese, l'attacco non è solo un episodio isolato, ma un messaggio politico preciso: colpire la presenza militare di Parigi per condizionare il ruolo della missione UNIFIL e frenare ogni ipotesi di rafforzamento del suo mandato. Non solo. L'agguato viene interpretato anche come un tentativo di sabotare i delicati equilibri tra Libano e Israele, proprio mentre si muovono i primi passi sul terreno negoziale. Un segnale diretto a una Francia che, da anni, mantiene un ruolo centrale nel Paese dei cedri, sostenendo istituzioni e forze armate locali.

Sul tavolo c'è anche un'ipotesi più ampia, che porta dritto a Iran. All'Eliseo si valuta infatti che dietro l'azione possa esserci quantomeno un incoraggiamento proveniente dall'orbita di Teheran, storicamente legata a Hezbollah e ostile a qualsiasi riavvicinamento tra Libano e Israele. In questo scenario, colpire i militari francesi significherebbe mandare un avvertimento a una potenza europea che prova a giocare una partita autonoma, non completamente allineata agli Stati Uniti ma comunque influente negli equilibri regionali. Il clima si fa ancora più pesante se si guarda alla sequenza degli eventi. In poco più di un mese, due soldati francesi sono stati uccisi in operazioni attribuite a gruppi legati alla stessa galassia filo-iraniana. Un'escalation che a Parigi richiama alla memoria precedenti drammatici come l'Attentato al palazzo Drakkar, quando morirono 58 paracadutisti francesi. Un parallelo che pesa e che rafforza la convinzione, sempre più esplicita, che dietro gli attacchi non ci siano solo milizie locali ma una regia ben più ampia.

On the table is also a broader hypothesis, which leads directly to Iran. At the Élysée Palace, it is being evaluated that the action could at least involve encouragement from the orbit of Tehran, historically linked to Hezbollah and hostile to any rapprochement between Lebanon and Israel. In this scenario, targeting French soldiers would mean sending a warning to a European power that is trying to play an autonomous game, not completely aligned with the United States but still influential in regional balances. The atmosphere becomes even heavier if one looks at the sequence of events. In just over a month, two French soldiers have been killed in operations attributed to groups linked to the same Iranian-backed galaxy. An escalation that in Paris recalls previous dramatic episodes, such as the Drakkar Palace attack, when 58 paratroopers died. A parallel that weighs and reinforces the conviction, increasingly explicit, that behind the attacks there are not only local militias but a much wider direction.
