Sono state liberate dai carabinieri le 25 persone prese in ostaggio nella tarda mattinata di oggi 16 aprile nel corso di una rapina nella banca Credit Agricolè in Piazzale Medaglie D'oro, a Napoli. Solo dopo un'ora e un quarto i Vigili del Fuoco sono riusciti ad aprire un varco in una delle vetrate. Mentre i carabinieri stanno effettuando i rilievi sull'auto nera con targa contraffatta, sospettata di essere quella utilizzata dalla banda per sfondare la vetrina, sono arrivate le teste di cuoio del Gruppo intervento speciale di Livorno per la bonifica all'interno della filiale. Prende sempre più corpo l'ipotesi della fuga dei malviventi attraverso la rete fognaria dove nella notte avevano praticato un foro sul pavimento.
Il colpo è partito circa verso le 12:00, dopo l'arrivo a bordo di una macchina Alfa Romeo. La banda si è presentata con delle maschere ritraenti attori americani famosi. Nel corso delle operazioni, mentre all'interno della struttura entravano ambulanze per via dei malori accusati da qualche ostaggio, sono arrivati anche il generale di brigata Biagio Storniolo, il procuratore Nicola Gratteri e il prefetto di Napoli Michele di Bari che ha espresso apprezzamento per i Vigili del Fuoco e per la "elevata professionalità, il coraggio e il senso dello Stato dimostrati dall'Arma dei Carabinieri". Continueranno adesso le indagini per fare luce sull'intera questione.

Twenty-five people taken hostage this morning, April 16th, during a robbery at the Credit Agricole bank in Piazzale Medaglie D'oro, Naples, have been released by the Carabinieri. It took an hour and a quarter for the Fire Department to open a breach in one of the windows. While the Carabinieri were conducting forensic investigations on the black car with a fake license plate, suspected of being used by the gang to smash the window, firefighters from the Special Intervention Group of Livorno arrived to secure the inside of the branch. The theory of the criminals fleeing through the sewer system, where they had drilled a hole in the floor during the night, is gaining more and more substance. The robbery began around 12:00 PM, after the arrival on board an Alfa Romeo car. The gang presented themselves wearing masks depicting famous American actors. During the operation, as ambulances arrived inside the building due to the distress experienced by some hostages, Brigadier General Biagio Storniolo, Prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, and Prefect of Naples Michele di Bari also arrived, who praised the Fire Department and the “high professionalism, courage, and sense of state demonstrated by the Carabinieri.” Investigations will now continue to shed light on the entire situation.
