@Guinnessy To add to that, the technical and regulatory problems have now been solved with the development and FAA-approval of Avgas G100UL as a drop-in replacement for Avgas 100LL for all spark-ignition aviation piston engines. Yes, all of them.
The remaining problems are logistics and political will.

Its not the direct ingestion of #leadedFuel it that was the problem, but to answer the original question: They probably did it at the start of covid while people were distracted. And you were unlucky to miss the 4 second footnote on the radio.
At least that's what they did in #Australia with allowing more toxic substances in our #food, #water and #environment.
