How did I ever think I fit in in that world?? #lawyering?
@mpfpr in collaboration with the Bar Association of #SriLanka concluded its third and final workshop on #HumanRights and #lawyering in #timesofcrisis for 🇱🇰 lawyers on 03-05 May.
With 25 lawyers in attendance, the event was led by Foundation Research Fellows and consultants in collaboration with local experts.
The #workshop is a part of the project funded by the @AuswaertigesAmt @aa_stabilisiert
I have no personal qualms with the party against whom I'm writing this brief, except that they do their possessive "s" like this:
s's
instead of:
s'
and so I have no choice but to unleash my most zealous of advocacy.
There can be no mercy in the face of such evil.
I finally converted my "Stop Writing Like a Lawyer" presentation to a blog post.
I know these aren't groundbreaking tips, but I find it's useful to keep them in mind, when you're creating our one and only work product: compelling words.

I am so confused as to how any of these recent suits against #OpenAI or #Google have a chance at being anything more than a distraction.
They all seem to be based on a total lack of understanding about training data, make huge assumptions about the legality of whatever training data was used, and to top it all off, standing and harm seem to be extremely undefined.
I would not be surprised if less than half of them don’t survive a motion for summary judgment.
Ultimate #Lawyering Level 99 achieved!
'Evers made full use of this [line item veto] power when changing a phrase that increased funding for the “2023–24 school year and the 2024–25 school year” to the “2023–2425” school years by vetoing parts of that sentence.'

I am not a prosecutor, but my job is criminal-case adjacent. Which means I have to call cops to testify on a regular basis. Which means sometimes I get a call from the police department telling me an officer has “unexpectedly resigned to pursue career opportunities outside of law enforcement.”
I refer to this as “Suddenly deciding to become a beet farmer.”
Which is why occasionally my colleagues hear me yell out, after a phone call, “THE BEETS, THEY CALL TO HIM!”
DoNotPay CEO Joshua Browder made a phony unilateral offer to pay $1 million to any lawyer who would use his robotic lawyer to argue before SCOTUS.
On the blog, I challenge him to donate $1 million to my law school, and we will organize a moot court so that he can test out his robotic lawyering in a setting similar to SCOTUS. #law #bots #lawyering #MootCourt #academia #philanthropy #contracts
