really interesting and gets into the dark side of how Roma music was alternately exploited and repressed through different eras. as someone who collects Electrecord LPs (the state record label from Romania) it's a good reminder of how much was constrained and never recorded.

On FB someone shared this Youtube video I have watched a million times and now I have to watch it again.
Some grainy handheld video of a wedding in Romania during the communist era with some of the most legendary folk musicians of the era casually jamming, including my personal musical hero Toni Iordache on #cimbalom, the top violinist Ion Drăgoi. and #accordionist Ionică Minune (the only one of the 3 still alive and playing). What a wedding.
