Steeplebush or Hardhack (Spiraea tomentosa), grows in sandy soils, dry or wet. At least a half a dozen Lepidoptera species including several Sphinx moths utilize this plant as a larval host.
Great St. John’s Wort (Hypericum ascyron). This plant provides only pollen and no nectar to the bumblebees that pollinate it. A major larval host plant for over a half a dozen butterfly species.
