You don't need to have played any of the previous Divinity games, and I won't argue you should. They're very much... of their time, and much harder to enjoy these days. D:OS2 does a great job of building out its own world independent of the existing lore.

D:OS2 doesn't use the D&D5e system or the Forgotten Realms but don't worry, the system they use is very good.

This game was why they got to build BG3. But that doesn't mean it's just an audition; it's a wonderful story and game by its own merits.

Heute mal wieder *Baldur's Gate 3* angemacht, "nur kurz schauen" – 4 Stunden später bin ich immer noch in Akt 1, habe eine völlig neue Klasse ausprobiert und Gale versehentlich in die Luft gesprengt. Klassisch. 🎲💥

Das Spiel ist kein RPG, es ist ein Lebensabschnitt.

DOS2 is a very good game, but pre-BG3 Larian is basically pre-CK3 Paradox: "Here are 234 mechanics that we will point and laugh at you for not knowing how they work. And that's AFTER you do the tutorial".
