I'm looking for #DeskSetup ideas. I currently have one 34" monitor and two #MacBooks that I use _open_ not in clamshell mode. My desk is 135cm wide and I'm struggling to fit everything next to each other. A stacked #LaptopStand or even one tall one with enough space underneath would be ideal but they don't seem to exist. I'm also looking into a #KVMSwitch or #KVMSoftware. Can you show me your #DualLaptop setups?

В 2013 американцы на кикстартере собрали и запустили в производство Roost - складную подставку для ноутбука которая позволяла поднять его на уровень глаз. Все это было приправлено, как американцы любят, промо-материалами. И эргономика становится очень эргономичной (экран на уровне глаз) и кофе теперь не затопит ноутбук. Китайцы не были бы китайцами, если б через несколько лет не выпустили Nexstand. По сути, ровно тот же кусок пластика, но почти в пять раз дешевле. (надеюсь авторы получили вне очереди кошка-жена и миска-рис, потому что платить 100 баксов за оригинальный руст, меня б жаба задушила). С тех пор в интернете появилась куча обзоров и сравнений, но в принципе, обе подставки мало чем отличаются. Очень удобно ставить такую в пару к монитору. Ноут довольно прочно фиксируется там.

Laptop stand done. Happy with the result.

Far from perfect, there's plugged holes, woodstain blotches, warping and tearout, but it looks good enough, works really well and is a major upgrade from the plastic box.

Made from old sawmill scrap I recut on the table saw.

Great learning experience. There's a splined miter, dowels, lap joints and lots of edge glued planks.

I didn't buy anything to make this. Okay, I bought a piano hinge but didn't use it 😁

Laptop stand test fit. Mechanism works satisfyingly well, really stable on all five settings. The keyboard fits nicely between the supports (hence the omitted fourth brace).

Unfortunately the rearmost plank decided to cup itself over night. Will see if it goes back in dryer weather, if not, oh well, doesn't really affect anything.

Couple details to sort, then slap on some 10 year old Ronseal from a can that sailed around with us most of the way :)
