After some blustery winds and big waves on #lakesuperior today, planning on some #rockhounding this weekend. More for the #rocktumbler #rocks #lapidary
My husband often asks: what do you plan to do with all these rocks you pick and tumble? This! Pack up lovely boxes and send them to friends and family for holiday presents, with a card detailing the gifts inside, including some Lake Superior agates and thomsonite. #rocktumbling #rockhounding #rock #lapidary
Trying to find restraint to not check the new 12lb tumbler a day early. Love the new tumbler from Highland Park! #rocktumbling #rockhounding #lapidary #rocks

And because I can't help but being a rockhound... I climbed up to ridgeline to collect a bit of petrified wood.

Small batch of my favorites out of the first three tumbler groups. #rocks #rockhounding #lapidary #rocktumbling

Decided to make the time to build up lists so I can maximize my Mastodon use. So you will see me promoting some lists as I build them. If you know of anyone that would be great to add, please let me know.

List 1: Rockhounding! This is my newest and most passionate hobby. Living on Lake Superior gives a lot of fun rocks to explore and tumble. So anyone who is into #rocks #rockhounding #lapidary or #rocktumbling (or if you know of anyone who is) just let me know so I can follow.

PS- expect to see more rock filled posts coming from my end! Including some local #agate finds.

A detailed step-by-step guide for turning rough rocks into beautiful gems with a rotary rock tumbler.

This is an Oregon sunstone and the red area inside is called β€œschiller”, a small pocket of copper. By keeping it in the pavilion (the back β€œpoint”) of my stone it gives the illusion that the whole stone is this color, though you can see in the second pic there are actually clear areas. Light magic!
