A brief but beautiful stop at Lago Antorno before heading towards the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. The geological history of this UNESCO site is as impressive as its beauty, with the dolomitic limestone dating back 200 million years. I was mesmerized by the autumn colors—vibrant oranges and deep greens painting the landscape. The weather in the Dolomites is famously unpredictable; we started with patches of blue sky and ended with intense rain and wind, but the hike remained an unforgettable experience.

Tropical Shore

Or is it? With the vibrant colours of the boat house and the mist on the green slopes, this scene looks almost tropical. Could this be Hawaii? No, this is Lac de Longemer, in the French Vosges. This place, in this particular week, was as far from tropical as could be. It was a wet and cold summer week, with only a few sunny moments. Not the best weather for a camping vacation, but we had to make do.
