Ladies First Review: This Comedy is Blunt and Watchable

A gender-swap comedy that’s blunter than it needs to be and better than it should be. Ladies First lands somewhere in between sharp satire and Netflix filler, and somehow that makes it worth watching.

Ladies First

Directed by Thea Sharrock; starring Sacha Baron Cohen, Rosamund Pike; adapted by Natalie Krinsky, Cinco Paul, Katie Silberman (1h30m)

A misogynistic advertisement exec finds himself in a world ruled by women.

Clever pitch executed with a great deal of humor and a topically relevant social angle.
Cohen and Pike are all in on the concept, though the film can’t quite avoid an over-polished and predictable feel.

Rating: C+
