Visited Lacock Abbey this week—pure magic. Nestled in Wiltshire, it's steeped in history, mystery & ghostly tales. Founded by a 6-year-old countess, home to silent nuns & spirits like the Lady in White. If walls could talk... #LacockAbbey #HauntedPlacesUK
This oriel window at Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire, England was the subject for early attempts to make a photographic negative image on chemically-treated paper between 1835 and 1841 when Henry Fox Talbot announced his paper-based calotype process. Fox Talbot was then unaware of earlier efforts in France by Niépce to capture negative images on chemically-treated pewter, and later by Daguerre on chemically-treated copper. Eventually the negative images would become captured on chemically treated plastic and would become the basis for pre-digital photography.

It is of this window that the first photographic negative was taken by Henry Fox Talbot in 1834. Pretty cool! #photography #lacockabbey #nationaltrust

The beautiful #LacockAbbey. Originally a nunnery, then country house & home to William Henry Fox Talbot, inventor of the photographic negative.

#ThrowbackThursday to 2006 and the first month or so of my first DSLR camera, when any excuse to take it out somewhere new at the weekends was leapt upon at every opportunity. This is the #cloisters at #Lacock #Abbey in #Wiltshire, and if it looks familiar to you then you might have seen the #HarryPotter movies where scenes were filmed.

This was with a #Canon EOS 350D. I've since moved through a 5D Mk II to the R6 I now use.
