To get an idea of how the current version of Zita-AT1 sounds like, I did a live performance with it at LAC2017 in Saint Etienne.

Fons did mention that Zita-AT2 probably has somewhat higher latency.

Can't wait for Zita-AT2 to come out! The demos were just very impressive. Fons used Will Godfrey's isolated voice from one of his songs and ran it through Zita-AT2 to showcase its possibilities. For this version Fons used a completely different approach because he wanted to release a version that maintains formants.

Let's see if I can find the original score somewhere.

For the record, #LAC2025 is NOT sponsored by VLC even though it might look like it.

So would it be an idea to have the L refer to Libre instead of Linux? So a Libre Audio Conference, open to everyone who wants to submit a talk, presentation, workshop or performance about or created with open source audio software?

Yesterday we had a small discussion about the future of the Linux Audio Conference. Two main questions arose:
- Anybody willing to organize any possible next edition?
- Should we impose any restrictions on what could be submitted?

Especially the second question spurred some debate because it touches a broader underlying sentiment: should the L in LAC represent more than just Linux?

During Giso Grimm's talk about OVBox¹ he mentioned that he had similar issues when using a newer kernel on a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Focusrite USB interface. Maybe enabling implicit feedback would help in his case too so hopefully we can take a look at that some time during the conference.

One thing that changed throughout the kernel development cycle is the way USB audio interfaces are being handled. Somewhere along the line an esoteric setting called implicit feedback was introduced and by default it's disabled. I ran into issues myself (see https://autostatic.com/tag/ideapad/), I couldn't do proper low latency stuff. But when I enabled implicit feedback the dropouts were gone and now I can go as low as 32 frames.

Great to have demoed the HaptiCoupler kit at #lac2025 yesterday. Lots of great insight and creative ideas from people trying it out. This kit is open source, find all the files (firmware, schematics, PCBs etc.) in the GitHub repo here: https://github.com/davisonaudio/HapticInstrumentWorkshop

The floor is yours @thisven ! I really like the angle of the talk, fits the conference very well. Architectural challenges when doing open source projects from an academic point of view. Great subject and well presented. Hats off sir!
