[OC] Label or Instruction?

A group of people watches three albino rats leap from small baskets into a big cage at an indoor hall in the Argentine capital. It’s Ratapalooza, an annual event held on Sunday in Buenos Aires, promoting the adoption of rodents raised in animal facilities or used for research in science labs that are no longer wanted. To attract adoptive families, Team Ratas, which is Spanish for rats, organizes the Ratapalooza as a bit of a fair, complete with stalls selling keychains, mugs, stickers and hair clips in the shape of rats and mice. The money raised goes to veterinary and food expenses for the rodents, which they foster at home before putting them up for adoption.

Call for Profile & Banner Submissions
Greetings all! Already, some people have expressed distaste at the use of AI-art in the profile picture of the comm – great start to my role as mod, I’m sure. I have deep beliefs about running communities democratically (when I’m not pushing my own agenda), so I thought I’d set up a vote. And yes, if you vote for LabyMcLab Face, that’s what we’ll go with – though, if I keep up on running this community there will be another vote eventually and something else can be picked. This post is not for the vote, but rather a call for Profile and Banner Submissions. Please nominate images in the comments here. I will exert a very small amount of influence by asserting that the image must be safe for work, and I will make the default rank of any image unrelated to science below and excluded from the lottery option in the vote (we’ll talk more about how voting works on the voting post). My first day as mod and I’m already exercising executive privileges. What would my mother think…

LabRats is a four-piece jazz fusion band that habitually cross genre boundaries in the way they merge funk, soul, and hip-hop into their work. Their music is rhythmically sturdy and melodically hearty. It also tends to be song-oriented in most cases. There are callbacks to the classic fusion sound from the '70s and '80s for sure, especially in some of their instrumentation, but elements of contemporary beatmaking are also fairly up front, bringing strong contemporary vibes to their work. The band has been quite active in Sacramento's music scene through their collaborations and the support and visibility they provide for local artists, who in turn, make regular appearances on their recordings, adding their soul and hip-hop chops into an already versatile mixture.
