New article by Vincent Ramos analyses #parentalleave provisions in the population of collective agreements in the #philippines. A policy reform did not induce short-term crowding-out effects + redundancy functionally raises the costs of non-compliance.

I need sometimes to travel abroad. I try to reduce in-person presence at international conferences but as a scientists, I cannot avoid them entirely.

Yes, I can reduce the environmental impacts by avoiding air travel. But I am also worried about the working conditions in the hotel during my stay.

For such reasons, and for everyone who travels, here are lists of hotels that respect their workers' rights:

USA & Canada: https://www.fairhotel.org/
Denmark: http://okforhold.dk/
Norway: https://www.fellesforbundet.no/en/
Sweden: https://www.schystavillkor.se/
Spain: https://fairhotels.es/?page_id=2

(If you know of other lists or countries to facilitate responsible travels, please comment below!)

Power to the Unions!

«How the Climate Crisis Impacts Workers and Migrants» webinar recording.

🗓 2nd April 2026
🎞 https://youtu.be/CdL3euTT7ic

💯 💯 💯 ❤️‍🔥

> The past decade has witnessed an unprecedented rise in global temperatures, with each year setting new records as the warmest. This increase—driven by human-induced climate change—results in more frequent and intense droughts, floods, erratic weather patterns, and natural disasters. These slow- and sudden-onset weather events make working conditions in already precarious labour sectors, such as agriculture, fishing, or garment production, unbearable. They also destroy many people’s homes and livelihoods, forcing them to undertake risky migrations or accept exploitative jobs, thereby increasing their vulnerability to exploitation and human trafficking. To unpack some of these dynamics, the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women organised a webinar to analyse how the worsening climate crisis is impacting workers and migrants. Speakers discussed changing working conditions in countries across Asia, Africa, and the Americas, the strategies that communities are implementing to resist resource extraction and exploitation, and what steps workers are taking to protect their rights and improve their working conditions.

> The conversation was inspired by the latest issue of the journal Anti-Trafficking Review on this topic: https://antitraffickingreview.org/index.php/atrjournal/issue/view/36

🌾Online Event- Farm Workers in South Africa and the Struggle for Justice 🌾

with Carmen Louw and Stephmarie Pekeur, hosted in collaboration between Women on Farms Project and the Farmers Without Borders

🗓️ *Tuesday, 14.04.2026 at 6pm (CEST/SAST)*

💻 *Online – Please register here:* https://uni-kassel.zoom-x.de/meeting/register/9vBMIT2RRoC3fywYyBAr3g

South Africa’s agricultural sector is deeply integrated into global markets, supplying supermarkets worldwide with products such as table grapes and wine. Yet many (women) farm workers and farm dwellers behind these exports face precarious working and living conditions. On many farms, ownership and power remain concentrated among white farm owners, and everyday relations are still characterised by reflect inequalities rooted in apartheid.

This online event explores the realities of life and work on South African farms. We will discuss power dynamics in the agricultural sector, the role of agribusiness, housing and living conditions, gendered experiences of farm labour, and how women workers navigate growing precarity. The conversation also highlights how farm workers and dwellers organize, resist, and raise their voices, while inviting reflection on the global food system and ongoing struggles for dignity, labour rights, and justice on farms.

*Carmen Louw* is the Women on Farms Project Co-Director and *Stephmarie Pekeur* is a Seasonal Farm Worker.

We are looking forward to share this space with agricultural practitioners, food rights activists and friends from the food sovereignty movements. You are warmly invited to join us and are welcome to share the invitation with your networks!

@pluralistic : It's extremely good that #Claude's source-code leaked (02 Apr 2026)

I'm slowly realizing that when *any* issue is framed as a personal right or responsibility, it's because someone is trying to hide the fact that there's a collective solution they don't want us to know about. In this case, it's that #LabourRights do more for individual workers than #copyright ever will.

I'm almost positively squealing here. ❤️‍🔥🌲📜💚🔥
One doesn't see this link highlighted often enough. 💖

Ofc it's GAATW noting it. ❤️❤️❤️

As they perfectly put it:

> GAATW sees the phenomenon of human trafficking as intrinsically embedded in the context of migration for the purpose of labour.
