Research from the homelessness charity Crisis and the campaign group Health Equals found fewer than three in every 100 private rental properties listed in England were affordable for people on housing benefit between April and October 2024.
The Labour freeze on housing benefit will push many more thousands into homelessness and arrears.

2️⃣ Poverty isn’t a policy success – it’s a political choice. Welfare cuts don’t ‘incentivise work’—they push people further into hardship. We need a system that lifts people up, not holds them down.
