Professionally interested in IT, personally in public transport, particularly railways these days, and a bunch of other things you won't hear from me about here :)
Being here inspired me to explore railway timetables (#EffectivePaxRailNet) and the art of the #Kursbuch. I work in IT, I'm interested in public transport and trains have been becoming a much bigger part of that for me lately. I hope to finally contribute a little to discussions on these topics around here. Po polsku: Witam fediwersum, już jakiś czas przeglądałem i szukałem miejsca dla siebie (nie siedziałem na mediach społecznościowych od czasu, gdy reddit de facto wywalił większość alternatywnych klientów). Pracuję w IT, interesuje mnie komunikacja publiczna, coraz bardziej pociągi, i mam nadzieję w końcu włączyć się trochę do dyskusji w tych stronach na te tematy.

It feels rather hilarious to read https://github.com/neroden/timetable_kit/blob/main/timetable_kit/fonts/FONT-NOTES.txt when 4 out of 7 modern European PDF Kursbücher I examined (PL, HU, IT, GB) are (apparently) Arial/Arial Narrow (also generally at 6pt).
Czechia and Denmark seem to use custom typefaces (not sure about Czechia, but the g-s in DSB's house font are very distinctive) and Switzerland is the odd one out with splendidly open IBM Plex Sans Condensed.
Really reinforces my conviction that if/when I develop my own #Kursbuch table layout, I will start with what the Swiss did and go from there
