#Germany: Actions by young people in #Leipzig against Turkish fascism and German support
English translation: In the night from 1 to 2 February, youths attacked several places in Leipzig with paint.
A Green Party office and the mosque of the AKP/MHP-affiliated DITIB association were targeted. At the same time, a banner was hung up with the words "Germany finances, Erdogan bombs!". The action was a reaction to the ongoing attacks and war crimes by the Turkish state in northern/eastern Syria and southern Kurdistan/northern Iraq.
The targets were intended to address the manifold complicity in Germany, because while the Turkish army flies to and destroys civilian targets, i.e. in effect commits war crimes, all responsible politicians remain silent. The Green-led Foreign Ministry continues to emphasise its close cooperation with its NATO partner and the German government repeatedly approves large arms deliveries that have been and continue to be used for war crimes such as the illegal occupation of Afrin.
And while the Turkish state is imprisoning more and more critics, the press and members of the opposition within its territory, the propaganda of the AKP and MHP can continue to take place in institutions such as the DITIB mosques and is sometimes even financed by the German state. The association exploits the position of a Muslim religious centre to protect itself from criticism and can thus continue to spread its misanthropic propaganda undisturbed. Especially for fascist associations such as the "grey wolves", which are involved in a large number of attacks and murders in Europe, these institutions also represent important recruitment and organisational locations.
