🤔 Ah yes, the "European Social Stack," where Europeans dream of overthrowing Big Tech with open declarations and #kumbaya hand-holding. Because nothing says "revolution" like a bunch of bureaucrats drafting manifestos. 😂 Apparently, a "diverse and resilient information infrastructure" is just around the corner... if only they could stop tripping over their own red tape. 🏗️📜

In their annual country report for NZ, the OECD concluded that National's over-priced gas terminal locking in fossil dependence is, and I paraphrase, a stupid idea.

"... and instead recommended investment in non-gas generation like biomass or pumped hydro."

But Christopher Luxon reckons that he knows better than the OECD and claims that their warning on the government's LNG plans are "a load of rubbish."

"Luxon said the coalition government was not going to tolerate "bumper sticker" policies or the sort of "kumbaya and mush" that Labour pursued while it was in power."

Putting aside the immorality of promoting fossil fuels over renewables, a deeply unpopular NZ Prime Minister describing the collective wisdom of the OECD as "kumbaya and mush" is one for the record books.

Dunning-Kruger appears to be getting the better of our PM. The man's an utter embarrassment.

But hey it could be worse. We got supplies, food, booze and weed. Our family members are all safe, even my Grandmother in assisted living whom we drove out to visit today as they have no power and no phone service.

Remarkable to me that Christians, whose entire philosophy rests upon "fallen man", could ever endorse the concept of freeing man from all egalitarian-oriented economic regulation, because it was all going to end well that way.

Catie Edmondson and Carl Hulse in the New York Times yesterday noted that House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) cannot bring his conference together behind a budget plan. He wanted to pass a bill demanding major concessions from President Biden before the Republicans would agree to raise the debt ceiling, both to prove that he could get his colleagues behind a bill and to put pressure on the Biden administration to restore the old Republican idea that the only way to make the economy work is to slash taxes, business regulation, and government spending.

The fist song I learned in my elementary school when we moved to Florida was #kumbaya and it touched me in many ways.
Now, “Kumbaya" is used "irrespective of its derivation." Kumbaya is used to sarcastically disparage consensus "that allegedly does not examine the issues or is revelatory of cockeyed optimism."
