Huge thanks to the team for highlighting this piece. If you want a raw look at how real-world engineers are wrestling with tools like Claude Code and the TDD vs. YOLO debate, definitely check out this issue! 👇

Last week Duncan McGregor and I ran our popular Refactoring Objects to Functional workshop at #KotlinConf 2026. Here is a thread with excerpts from the handout about some of the topics we covered.
Speaker gifts are rare, and cool ones that you’ll keep forever are even rarer. A true unicorn. #KotlinConf
Collection literals, a declarative Gradle syntax, and coroutines for concurrency at scale were the highlights of #KotlinConf for me. My favorite line: "When everything is possible, nothing is obvious." Thanks to the organizers.

Dev Community interviews from the KotlinConf -26. We talked about the event, interesting talks, tech and the impact of LLMs in our industry

Thanks for the chat, James Cullimore, Wolf-Martell Montwe, Matthias Geisler, Volodymyr Galandzij, @eenriquelopez

Are We the Last Generation of Developers? KotlinConf 2026 Unfiltered AI Survey

Watching the #KotlinConf keynote during the weekend. This slide made me proud even though I know the app list is in random order! 😆

But in my opinion, the best talk was the one by [Lena Reinhard](https://www.lenareinhard.com/) (unfortunately not on the Fediverse). I have to admit, I hadn’t heard of her before. What she said about AI really spoke to me. The repeated applause really gave me hope that our industry can still be saved.
It was disappointing that quite a few people left the talk when Lena explained that she was queer.
I hope the talk will be available on video soon.

I’ve been at KotlinConf for the past few days.
Although I avoided talks specifically about AI, the topic kept coming up.
None of the speakers took a clear stance on the issue. At times, though, I also got the feeling that no one dared to say anything negative.
