The latest trend with "conservative christians" in the former USA is "Biblical Eating". https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/may/20/latest-fad-diet-eating-biblically

Are these people allowed to eat pork, shellfish etc as they are mentioned in Leviticus.
Or
Are they not allowed to eat pork etc as it is explicitly forbidden in Leviticus?

The article does not make it clear. Possibly because the writer was sniggering at these fuckwits when she wrote it.

And, lo! The latest fad diet is upon us – and it’s called ‘eating biblically’

Some Christian conservatives are only eating foods mentioned in the Bible. At least Jesus wasn’t devouring ultra-processed sausage rolls, writes Arwa Mahdawi

The Guardian

I wonder if peoples blood sugar does different things during a meal. Some people find it important to eat a meal with other people. I find it most enjoyable to eat the meal without talking or socializing. It’s almost like I’m trying to do two things like watch a TV show and socialize. I would much rather socialize while I’m driving or while I’m walking or sitting at a campfire. Or looking at the clouds. I really can’t socialize well at a meal. I know people feel strongly about this because they will go out of their way and not let another person eat alone and they will act offended if you suggest that you will leave the room and they will eat alone.

"On the eve of #Shavuot, a fascinating document recently acquired by the National Library offers a glimpse at some of the earliest #cheesecakes documented in #culinary #literature. It is a rare copy of what is believed to be the first #kosher #cookbook ever published.

The #book, published in 1846, is titled The #Jewish Manual of Modern #Cookery, With a Collection of Valuable #Recipes & Hints Relating to the Toilette. It was written in English and published anonymously under the credit “A Lady.”

Although there is no conclusive proof, researchers attribute the book to Lady #JudithMontefiore for several reasons..."

"Fewer than a hundred #Jewish people are estimated to remain in #Syria, scattered across a country where their community once numbered in the tens of thousands.

In the narrow stone alleys of #Damascus's ancient #JewishQuarter, the question of how to maintain #religious tradition with almost no one left to sustain it has become urgent, and nowhere is that more visible than in the search for #kosher #food.

#BakhorShamntoub, head of Syria's #Mussawi or Jewish community, sat down with Euronews to explain how a tradition that once sustained an entire community now depends on individual effort, occasional #imports from #Turkey, and packages sent by relatives in the #US.

#Kosherlaw, #Shamntoub explained, permits lamb, beef and chicken — but only under strict conditions."

Shalom, friends!
We’ve landed in Tractate Chullin, aka “ordinary” everyday #kosher consumption of mammals and birds in non-temple contexts.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the #Talmud thus far, it’s that NOTHING that appears “ordinary” is actually that way! 👀 HA!
Welcome to #DafReactions Chullin 4: “Ordinary!?”😂
