I am a long-term #KDEPIM user and recently read that due to progress in #SQLite’s performance #Akonadi is now defaulting to that DB on a fresh install.

A few days ago I took the chance and ran `akonadi-db-migrator --newengine sqlite` and it was both painless and I definitely see both lower resource consumption and the PIM suite seems much snappier too!

That awkward moment when you realize that #KOrganizer has better timezone support than #Apple Calendar. #kde #localization

Someone recently told me their therapist recommended them #GoogleCalendar for blocking time for tasks. https://www.digitaltrends.com/phones/google-calendar-will-finally-let-you-block-time-for-a-task-instead-of-a-meeting/

So I instantly went looking for an alternative:

There's https://super-productivity.com/ which is #openSource and claims to have #CalDAV support but I couldn't get that to work unfortunately.

Apparently https://kontact.kde.org/components/korganizer/ #KOrganizer lets you just drag todos into your calendar to quickly convert them into events.

So far I've been getting by using https://tasks.org/  and https://useplanify.com/  synced via #Nextcloud for scheduling, grouping and prioritizing to-dos, managing and sharing my shopping list etc.

(Feel free to leave testimonials/other recommendations.)

Google Calendar will finally let you block time for a task instead of a meeting

Google Calendar now lets you block time for tasks directly from Google Tasks, marking you as busy and improving day planning for all Workspace and personal users.

Is #Thunderbird really the only standalone #Linux desktop calendar app that can just subscribe to #CalDAV calendars? 🤨

#GnomeCalendar needs a ton of dependencies and #GNOME stuff running.
#KOrganizer the same for #KDE.
#Evolution apparently just hooks into GNOME online accounts.

There are some terminal calendar apps, but yeah... If one has #vim keybindings and is configurable via config files, I am open to suggestions.

@ervin, I see you’ve been at #Akademy and held a #KDEPIM BoF.

There was a topic on how to gather more info from users.

As an avid user of #KMail, #KOrganizer and #Zanshin, I have (quite) some feedback and bug reports to provide. But whenever I try to, it seems to end up in the void.

I think a first step would be concentrate on the number of communication channels that devs can actually manage. For both their sanity and the users’.

Anyone else using #KDE #Korganizer to sync their #Nextcloud calenders and getting authentication errors and invalid logins lately?

Something on my system appears to forget their Nextcloud creds after reboot, leading to many repeated failed login attempts which, in turn, results in my IP being blocked for new logins.

I think its Korganizer because when I set a new app-password there, the issue disappears. Now I'm wondering if its just me or a general bug?

@timapple
There are some, but I'm not sure if that's exactly what you are looking for. In my opinion, they are good.

:smile:
