The Whispering was the third film for a our Spooptober group watch, and it was baaaaad. A bunch of teens just making dumb decisions, not really scary when it should have been, and the ending was terrible.
The only thing I give the movie credit for is atmosphere and aesthetics. They did silence really well, so you really heard the creepy noises and sounds.

Everyone on Exhuma (2024) from the DP, the costumer, the set decorator, the composer, and even the location scout were all at the top of their game.
The first two thirds of the movie are equal parts noir and 1940s Hollywood detective smashup, with greedy protagonists getting in big trouble because they ignored all the red flags, and then slowly uncovering the truth through diligent investigation.
Amazingly the final third works just like a heist formula but their goal is to trick and rob an unkillable evil spirit. There's much more to it than that, even theories that the division of north and south Korea might be attributed to a very specific curse.
