#Ironie, 20 jours au #Japon à chercher un #koinobori 🎏, vous savez ces manches à air en forme de carpe Koi s'agitant dans le vent... Introuvable.
Bon, j'avais fini par comprendre que ça n'était disponible que fin avril/début mai pour la "fête des enfants"...

Et là, en cet après-midi de jour férié, me baladant à #Lille sans but, je passe devant Petit Konbini, l'une des épiceries Japonaise de Lille, porte grande ouverte, et que vois-je dans l'entrée : des Koinobori à foisont.

I was honored to have the koinobori (“carp streamer”) I designed on display in Tokyo Midtown in front of 21_21 Design Sight, one of my favorite museums in Tokyo. This koinobori uses my typeface Louvette Pixel, which is my first typeface to include Hiragana, Katakana, and (very limited) Kanji. Carp streamers soar above Hiroshima | NHK WORLD-JAPAN News

Koinobori are colorful carp-shaped flags that symbolize success and advancement for children. At the Fukahara District Park in Kumano Town, about 130 Koinobori were donated by families whose children had grown up. Every year, from late March to mid-May, it is a tradition for the community to have them above in the hope of healthy growth of children and revitalization. The time you can see the collaboration between a tree full of cherry blossoms and Koinobori are limited to about a week.

This is one of a series, each unique, of my hand made cyanotypes on watercolour paper (14” x 11”) with an image of a cloud-filled sky overprinted with my linocut print of several kites, and wind-socks each collaged with beautiful Japanese washi papers.

The carp-shaped Koinobori wind socks (also known as satsuki-nobori) are flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no sekku, or Children’s Day each May 5.
