On-water matters

The real adventure began today with a comfortable ferry ride to Koh Phi Phi for lunch, then a change of ferry on to Koh Lanta.

Unsurprisingly, Koh Phi Phi has developed a lot since I stayed a couple of nights here in January 2009, when it was still recovering from the Tsunami.

It's now so busy that getting the ferry into the pier was basically Tetris, and there were many dozens of speedboats and longtails coming and going and moored around the bay.

The first thing you see now, once you fight your way through the hordes to get off the pier, is a fucking Burger King, with a fucking McDonald's right behind it. Yuk.

It might be a bit more manageable in the evening, once all the daytrippers have left, but I found it pretty confronting and have removed it from my must-see recommendations list.
