Japanese mixed martial artist Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada, 29, has earned his first victory in ONE Championship. He was one of the winners at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which marked his second bout in the Singapore-based martial arts organization.
Wada is fighting out of Kofu, Yamanashi, Japan. The city has five international sister cities namely Des Moines, Iowa, United States; Lodi, California, USA; Pau, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France; Chengdu, Sichuan, China and Cheongju, North Chungcheong, South Korea.

Featuring three ONE Super Series striking contests and 11 MMA matches, “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” took place on November 17, 2018 at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the fifth bout of the evening ,Wada competed in an MMA bout in the flyweight division against Eugene Toquero, 37, of Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Wada quickly went to work at the opening bell, landing a series of leg kicks while connecting on a handful of punches. The Japanese grappler then showcased his dangerous submission skills, taking Toquero’s back and forcing the tap from a deep rear naked choke.
Referee Yuji Shimada put a stop to the flyweight bout between Toquero and Wada after 52 seconds in the first round. The Japanese fighter’s first promotional victory improved his professional MMA record to 20 wins, 9 losses, 2 draws and 1 No Contest.
On July 7, 2018, Wada failed to get the win when he made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Battle for the Heavens” at the Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. He lost to Reece “Lightning” McLaren, 27, of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia via split decision.
In 2008, Wada made his professional MMA debut. The fighter from Kofu lost his first five bouts, which all took place in the same year.
On June 30, 2009, Wada won his first professional MMA bout. He submitted his fellow Japanese fighter Tatsuya Tsuchida via rear-naked choke at “Deep: 42 Impact” at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Before joining ONE Championship, Wada competed mostly in DEEP. He captured the DEEP Flyweight Championship belt twice.
