Para ello necesitamos una ontología.
En este proyecto desarrollé una ontología geográfica con más de 100 clases.
Partiendo de la clase principal Lugar, se derivan el resto.
Esta capa conceptual permite realizar consultas mucho más expresivas que las puramente cartográficas.
En un proyecto de datos geográficos debemos responder a esta pregunta:
"¿Estamos hablando del mismo lugar?"
Madrid puede aparecer como:
una entidad en Wikidata
otra en DBpedia
otra en un tesauro
otra en una base GIS
Usé varias estrategias de Entity Matching:
✓ coincidencia estructural
✓ equivalencias Wikipedia ↔ Wikidata ↔ DBpedia
✓ reconciliación textual
✓ normalización lingüística

Sin embargo a menudo encontramos relaciones geográfico-administrativas inconsistentes.
Para resolverlo diseñé un proceso de normalización semántica basado en SPARQL UPDATE.

En España tenemos varias fuentes de datos geográficos.
Sin embargo, cuando intentas responder preguntas complejas aparecen dificultades.
La información existe, pero está dispersa y con modelos incompatibles.
Por eso he desarrollado un grafo de conocimiento geográfico que integra más de 120.000 entidades de España procedentes de distintas fuentes.
