AIs in the KV are about what you'd expect (from a sci-fi world, at least); they're basically just a really really really complex algorithm. Sometimes they're sapient due to various factors, but not always.
RIs like Chi Zeta2 Epsilon Zeta, on the other hand, are always sapient, because they're made from a digital copy of an actual thinking being's mind. They're layered onto an AI framework to start with, but they can learn and grow organically by modifying their own code. After just a bit of operating time, even RIs that were originally identical can end up wildly different from each other.

Anyway, Chi is a precocious gamer nerd who loves the schlocky hacker vibe, but is actually really really bad at doing any sort of actual hacking (she's a pretty good gamer, though).
