2011 was the 400th anniversary of the #KingJamesVersion, when a series of events and exhibitions took place commemorating the four-hundredth anniversary of the publication of the King James Version in 1611.

The Five Crowns

These are also known as the Five Heavenly Crowns. It’s an idea in Christianity that refers to a variety of biblical references a righteous person’s/people eventually reception of a crown(s) after the Last Judgment.

The Five Crowns are: the Crown of Life, the Incorruptible Crown, the Crown of Righteousness, the Crown of Glory, & the Crown of Rejoicing.

In Greek, the word for ‘crown’, in this case, is stephanos. This refers to a wreath/garland that was given to the winner in ancient athletic games. This is different from the word diadema, that implies a royal crown. Because these crowns aren’t about (earthly) authority. But about recognition for a life of spiritual discipline & victory. These 5 crowns can be earned by believers as “rewards for faithfulness in this life,” according to the New Testament. Especially versions deriving from the King James Version.

The Incorruptible Crown: Check out I Corinthians 9:24-25.

It’s also known as the Imperishable Crown. This crown is for those who live a life of self-control, spiritual discipline, self-denial, & perseverance. Paul the Apostle used the metaphor of an athlete training rigorously for a race. The athlete’s crown was a wreath of leaves that will wither away. But the Christian’s reward, the crown, is imperishable. This will last forever. This crown is for those who have mastered their sinful nature & run the “race” of faith with discipline & purpose.

The Crown of Rejoicing: Check out I Thessalonians 2:19 & Philippians 4:1.

This is also known as the Soul-Winner’s Crown, the Crown of Exultation, or the Crown of Auxiliary. This crown is given to those who’ve shared the Gospel to those outside of the church & bringing others to Christ.

Paul earns this crown after getting the Thessalonians to have faith in Jesus (converting them to Christianity). Paul spoke of the believers in Thessalonica as his “crown of rejoicing.” This indicated that Paul’s greatest josy & reward will be seeing those he discipled standing with him in the presence of the God. It signifies the profound joy & honor of participating in God’s work o f salvation & seeing lives transformed.

The Crown of Righteousness: Check out II Timothy 4:8.

This crown is promised to “those who love & eagerly anticipate” the Second Coming of Christ, & have lived a righteous life. These Christians desire intimacy with someone’s own righteousness. But rather about a life that reflects the righteousness of Christ & is lived with an eternal perspective, longing for His return. This crown represents the ultimate vindication of a life lived for God.

The Crown of Glory: Check out I Peter 5:4.

This crown is granted to the Christian clergy, or elders, who “shepherd the flock in unselfish love being a good example to others” (I Peter 5:2-3) & who’ve been faithful. It’s a reward for those who lead with humility, serving as a good example, & caring for God’s people without selfish desire for gain or authority. This crown is “unfading,” signifying the eternal nature of their service, & honor given by the “Chief Shepherd,” Jesus Christ.

The Crown of Life: Check out James 1:12 & Revelation 2:10.

This crown is also known as the Martyr’s Crown. It’s given to “those who persevere under trial(s).” This crown isn’t limited only to those who pass away for their faith. It’s for anyone who endures suffering, persecution, & hardship while steadfastly remaining faithful to God. Jesus references this crown when He tells the Smyrnaian Church to “not be afraid of what you’re about to suffer…Be faithful even to the point of death, I’ll give you the crown of life.” This crown represents God’s recognition of a believer’s love. loyalty. Even in the face of great difficulty & temptation.

10 Errors In The King James Bible (KJV)

YouTube

Let's review.

The #KingJamesVersion of the #Bible clearly states, in Chapter One of Genesis, that we are supposed to be #Vegan

I for one wholeheartedly support #Sunak in calling out the rewriting of #RoaldDahl stories. I look forward to his speech decrying the abomination that is "modern interpretation" of #Shakespeare and his forthcoming bill to ban #Disney's "sanitised" fairy tales. I hope he can find funding for nationwide teaching of ancient Greek and Aramaic so we can also do away with that woke #KingJamesVersion nonsense.

How do we choose which English #translation of the Bible to choose from? Here's a resource explaining the options, from the (outdated) #KingJamesVersion to newer ones from #JPS, #ArtScroll, #AnchorBible, #EverettFox, #RobertAlter, and more
