Flat-crown Albizia (Albizia adianthifolia) a tree native to East and Central African forests. Each flower is a pure starburst of silk stamens: white at the base, deepening to rose-mauve at the tips. No petals. Just botanical drama in its purest form.

These trees are part of the legume family (Fabaceae), relatives of acacias and mimosas. Their fern-like leaves fold closed at night, a process called nyctinasty.
