Arnie the DXman | HF4That KBS reel has reminded me that #Khanun and #Lan actually co-existed close to each other for a few days, and when one poured down on W Japan & Korea, the other tried to sink Okinawa. And who knows, perhaps Lan actually pushed Khanun away from its easterly path to turn north? 🤔
Anyway, this also reminded me that I have a few HF FAX pictures to decode - and one already decoded. Satellite image from JMH, 13986.6 kHz USB, 1910z Aug 9 2023. Hope both Khanun & Lan are visible 🙈 #shortwave #typhoon

At 1653z / 01:53 local, KBS 1 is finally carrying something different too! KBS News D and KBS Korea are also back to their own programming. I think the split happened just now, as some event promos were still show on KBS News D // KBS 1.
I think this terminates this monitoring project, although I still have some HF FAXes to decode. Thanks you for your attention 😉
At 1327z / 22:27 local, MBC & SBS are back to regular programming after 17-18 hours of non-stop #typhoon #Khanun coverage. KBS 1 is still running the typhoon news though, still relayed on KBS News D (w/out its logo) and KBS Korea... but NOT on KBS 1 Radio, as listened to on 711 kHz via Oita KiwiSDR. The radio simulcast finished a bit before 1400z #TyphoonKhanun
At 1208z / 21:08 local, after main evening newscasts finished on both MBC & SBS, SBS is in another newscast, this time obviously a special one. I'm /p w/ my mobile, and for a long time I could only listen to whatever was going on, but I think they actually tried to play some regular entertainment px... If they did, they must've switched back to the news really quickly, as #Khanun is now affecting Seoul... #typhoon #TyphoonKhanun
At 10:31 UTC / 19:31 local, YTN went into an ad break in-between newscasts... and it's still displaying #typhoon #Khanun headlines over the commercials 😂
Not to complain; I think MBC & SBS do still run some ads in-between their emergency coverage too. KBS, at least KBS 1, does not carry advertising, I don't know about other KBS channels; surely KBS 2 Radio does.
