#FindsFriday #Celtic: `The meaning ‘Bel-fire’ of
#Beltane may refer to the god Belenus. In pagan times, large fires were lit everywhere at Beltane, the most important being at Uisnech, in the centre of Ireland, in remembrance of the first fire lit in Ireland by the people of Partholón. Their settlement, as well as that of the Milesians around Beli and that of the Túatha Dé Danann, had all taken place at Beltane.
At Beltane, an oenach was held in Uisnech, which was one of the most important festivals in Ireland.`
