I promise this is my last black kite (黑鳶 / Milvus migrans) for today - a great sharp shot of a bird in flight above Keelung Harbour in Northern Taiwan.
There was a couple photographing the kites at the same time as me, and they told me a remote location on the Xindian River where apparently you can get close to ospreys fishing off the river.

…recognise and start to predict. It turned into either:
- that bird just took a squid off the water, let’s stick with it and see if the others attack it, or
- that bird is being aggressive, I bet it’s about to fight someone, let’s stick with it and see who it attacks.
So - miracles of nature fit into a broader pattern, and the magic is in working out the pattern.

Not as sharp as I’d like, but you’re going to forgive me, given the timing and the detail on the water-droplets - a black kite / 黑鳶 （Milvus migrans), hunting squid off Keelung Harbour in Northern Taiwan.
The cleanliness and health of Keelung Harbour today is so starkly different from the cesspool that greeted me when I first went there in 1990. Taiwan has done so much to clean up its environment.
