#KDENEON - Das Zauberwort für die richtige Einstellungsmöglichkeit des ALT+TAB Verhaltens nennt sich "Anwendungsumschalter" :-)
Wenn man hier das "Vorschaubilder-Raster" deaktiviert, dann geht's deutlich flotter.
Das macht's wieder etwas cooler und hält mich ab die nächste Distribution testen zu wollen. :-)

Und noch ein kurzes Update zum HP Laptop nach nun 2,5 Monaten #kdeneon:
Die ständigen System Reboots nach Updates und das träge ALT+TAB Verhalten sind wirklich sehr lästig. Die letzten Tage eher den #ubuntu Laptop in den Fingern gehabt und das macht schon irgendwie mehr Spaß.

@OurParadise mein #Lenovo verträgt sich anscheinend nicht mit dem installierten #linuxmintxfce und #luks. Bei jedem Stromeinstöpseln semmelt er ab. Auch mit Testkonto. Und auch nach kompletter #neuinstallation inkl. Neupartitionierung, mit/ohne LUKS, speziellen Kerneloptionen.

Mit #liveusb-Systemen (auch #LinuxMint #Xfce) passiert das nicht.

Die Fehlermeldungen betreffen #iwlwifi und #sata, ich dachte an einen #hardwarefehler (#Wackelkontakt?)

Jetzt läuft #kdeneon ohne Probleme.

@gremlin #KDELinux is archbased and actively being maintained, while #KDENeon was based on Ubuntu LTS und is dead now.

Der erste Monat mit #kdeneon #linux auf meinem HP Laptop ist vorbei. Grundlegend eine total solide Nummer hier. Macht echt Spaß, aber so ganz ohne Aufreger geht's in der Linux Welt ja auch nicht. Das ALT+TAB Fenster hin und her Wechsel Verhalten ist mir leider etwas arg träge, keine Ahnung ob's an KDE Plasma oder der Hardware liegt, auf anderen Büchsen mit Windows oder Ubuntu mit Gnome geht das deutlich(!) flotter. Und dann sind da noch diese ständigen Neustart Aufforderungen nach Update Installationen. Das war ich so bisher auch nicht "gewohnt", aber auch hier kein Vergleich, da vorher noch nie mit KDE zu tun gehabt. Mein geliebtes #linuxmx oder #debian mit #xfce in den VMs will so gut wie nie einen Neustart machen.

"I spent the afternoon playing games in Steam on Linux and everything worked perfectly" was a much more impressive statement before the Steam Deck came along, but I am still amazed and just how well things have progressed.

All but one game I tried worked without any changes, one I had to nudge to use Proton Experimental. Graphics quality was great, too, but I wasn't playing anything that drove it too hard. Just a few things like Balatro, Peglin, and Wingspan.

Up and running with KDE Neon on my main laptop. No more Windows 11, finally. Though it's just the basics at the moment, the rest shouldn't take long. Having multiple very accessible backups has helped speed along the process. Helps that nearly all the software I use daily is already FOSS or at least cross-platform.

Most things are good on this hardware, even multiple monitors. Audio is weak but I have leads on fixes.

Trying out CachyOS felt just as unstable as #KDEneon - i need a stable box - i don't want to deal with package / update issues!

Yes, i'm old enough to use #Arch, btw / #Manjaro #Linux. I'm also old-enough/Millennial, to appreciate the Manjaro "slow-rolling" CURATED release schedule! 🖖🤓👍

Manjaro IS up-to-date enough, without being too-bleeding-edge - curated Lagrange point, imho. 😉
