What are your must-have desktop environment apps?

Aside from web browser and commo (Signal and Discord), my immediate installs were

- #Obsidian for my portable brain
- #CoolRetroTerm for my retro terminal needs
- media stuff (#ReaperDAW, #Audacity, #MuseScore, #OBSstudio, #inkscape)

What's a good #RSS aggregator?

And what other cool things might I be missing out on, as a Win10 refugee coming to #KDE5?

I upgraded to #kde #plasma6 yesterday on EndeavourOS and it's wonderful! The #wayland session works incredibly well, even with my #nvidia GPU. All the problems I had with #kde5 (clipboard, Electron tray icons, etc.) are fixed.

Only a few select applications (KRDC, KNotes) aren't behaving as well, but running them under #xwayland fixes those issues.

Not having a clue what i'm doing, but just following instructions as best i can from:

so far i've got #FreeBSD14 tty/console running in a new #QEMU/#KVM/#VirtManager #VM, have installed #Wayland & #Xwayland, have NOT installed a separate #compositor, & atm am installing #KDE5 / #Plasma [in belief/hope that its #Kwin will handle all the necessary compositor functions in FreeBSD like it does in my various rather more familiar-to-me #Linux systems]. Haven't the faintest idea yet if this will succeed or fail, given i have every confidence in my ability to have misunderstood the docs & either installed the wrong thing somewhere, failed to install something vital, not understood that i needed to start some critical service/s, etc... 🤪​

Nur weil Gnome sich mit der Funktion der Verknüpfung schwer tut?
Gut, ich nutze sowieso fast ausschließlich KDE Plasma und dort ist weder das Verknüpfen von Dateien oder Startern ein Problem.

Ich hatte irgendwann mal eine Ansicht / Desktopoberfläche dort wurden die Programme immer im Vollbildmodus gestartet, grausam...

Also ich muss schon zugeben, dass mir #KDE, im Zusammenspiel mit #Wayland und #Gentoo, inzwischen doch sehr gut gefällt. Früher stand es in puncto Ressourcenverbrauch doch sehr in Konkurrenz zu #Windows.

Ich habe gestern mein #linux mit #xfce weg geschmissen und durch #manjaro #kde5 ersetzt. So etwas würde ich mit Windows nie mache, allein schon wegen den Programmen, welche man sich mühselig aus dem Internet laden muss 🤯

Es ist mein erstes mal KDE. So einfach war es noch nie sein Desktop einzurichten -> Ich bin ganz aus dem häusche 🎉

Jetzt habe ich KDE-Connect entdeckt, mal sehen was man damit alles so machen kann. lul
